Mayor for traffic jam-free Rangpur

RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu yesterday said steps have been taken for turning Rangpur into a traffic-jam free city with adequate civic amenities, reports BSS.
The city mayor said this while launching the carpeting works of two 4-kilometre long roads from Chawrahat to Moynakuri and from Burirhat to Kadamtola Bazar and construction of a drainage system in Ghorapeer area at separate ceremonies here as the chief guest. The RCC has been implementing the road carpeting works and drainage system at a cost of Taka 9.21 crore under the City Governance Project (CGP) with financial assistances of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Government of Bangladesh.
Under the project, construction works of a number of drainage systems, roads, bridges, culverts and other infrastructures are being conducted in different packages at Taka 96 crore in all 33 wards in the city.
The City Mayor said massive infrastructural development works are being implemented in a planned manner as per a master plan for building an eco-friendly, modern, traffic-jam free and beautiful city with excellent communication networks.
He directed the concerned officials, engineers and contractors for timely and smooth completion of infrastructural development works to ensure modern communication networks and congenial environment in the city.
