MYMENSINGH: Leader of the opposition in the parliament Raushan Ershad formally inaugurated the weeklong programmes organised in observance of ‘Mymensingh Free Day’ by hoisting the national flag at Chota Bazar Mukta Mancha yesterday morning, reports BSS.
Commander of district command of Muktijoddha Sangsad, Mymensingh unit, Anwar Hossain hoisted the Muktijoddha flag.
Salauddin Ahmed, MP, Deputy Commissioner Mustakim Billah Faroqui, Police Super Moinul Haque, freedom fighters and elites of the town were present on the occasion.
Marking the occasion a weeklong programme was announced yesterday. The programme includes rally, discussion, Muktijoddha memorial speech, poetry recitation, cultural function and photo exhibition.
On this day in 1971 freedom fighters of Mymensingh freed the district town from the clutches of Pakistani occupation forces.
Later, a colorful rally was brought out in the town led by the leader of the opposition Raushan Ershad which paraded through the main roads and ended at Chota bazar Mukto Mancha.
Hundreds of freedom fighters, Awami league, Jatiya Party and its front organisations, members of the socio- cultural organizations, teachers and students participated in the rally.
