Another economic victory with opening of Padma Bridge, says Quader

SHARIATPUR: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would achieve another economic victory by inaugurating the main construction works of the Padma Bridge in the month of Victory, reports BSS.
The minister made the assertion while visiting the construction site of the Padma Bridge at Jajira in the district.
“Bangalee nation has achieved victory in the War of Liberation in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and in 2015 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, worthy daughter of Bangabandhu is going to attain economic victory by inaugurating the Padma Multipurpose Bridge,” Quader said.
He told the journalists that around 27 percent work on the bridge has been completed so far.
Earlier, the minister exchanged views with officials of the bridge division, Bangladesh Army personnel, local administration and police personnel at a conference room of China based contractor here.
Obaidul Quader also enquired about preparation of the inaugural ceremony.
Lawmaker and Organising Secretary of Awami League BM Mozammel Haque, Project Director of Padma Bridge M Shafiqul Islam, Brigadier General M Shahid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of the district M Bhikharudoula Chowdhury, Awami League Central Leader AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, assistant Secretary of Awami League Central Sub-Committee Mehedy Jamil, Awami League leader Nurul Amin Kotwal, Upazila Vice Chairman Alamgir Hossain Hawlader and other leaders and workers were present during the view exchange meeting.
