Lynch-mob kills 8 �robbers� in N�ganj

Eight suspected robbers of an inter-district robber gang were killed and three others injured in a lynch-mob attack in Purindabazar area of Araihazar upazila early yesterday, reports UNB. The details about the deceased could not be known immediately.
A gang of robbers numbering 25-30 came in the market area on a truck ( no-Dhaka Metro Ta-4311) and stormed a rice shop owned by Abdul Gafur in the Bazar area under Satgram union around 5am, said Assistant Superintendent of Police AKM Jahirul Islam.
When they were loading rice into the truck from the shop, several devotees on way to the mosque, saw them and screamed.
Later the thugs made them hostage at gunpoint and tied them with rope. One of them ran away into a nearby village and informed others of the matter. Shop owners of the market and villagers encircled the robbers and caught 11 of the gang.
Later they gave them a severe thrashing and threw them in the nearest pond and ditch. On information, police rushed to the spot. With the help of divers, they retrieved four bodies around 7:30am. Later they also recovered four more bodies, added the ASP.
Critically injured three robbers were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The injured were Manik, son of Latif, hailing from Raipur village in Trishal upazila, Lokman, son of Osman Bepari, hailing from Kalibari village under Chandpur thana, and Sajib Miah, son of Sana Miah, hailing from Kotwali Balla village in Mymensingh district.
Additional police personnel were deployed in the area, said Mohammad Ariful Rahman, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station.
Most of the deceased were from Mymensingh district, added the OC.
Meanwhile, two siblings received gunshots fired by robbers during a robbery incident at Ajratpara in the city’s Mohakhali area early yesterday.
The injured were identified as Naren Ranjan,38, an official of an IT firm, and Rajesh Alekjandar,33, an official of Premier Bank.
Assistant Sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station Mahbub said a gang of robbers numbering 4-5 sneaked into the victims’ flat on the first floor of a six-storey building in the area by cutting window grill at about 4:20 am.
The hoodlums stabbed Naren and Rajesh as the two brothers happened to seem them. The robbers also opened fire at the siblings and hurriedly fled the scene, leaving them critically injured.
Hearing hue and cry, neighbours rushed to the spot and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
