One employee of a motor parts shop was killed and two other suffered burn injuries as miscreants set fire to their room in a mess after closing the door from outside at Wari in the capital early yesterday.
The deceased, Suman, 40, who suffered 85 per cent burn, succumbed to his injuries at intensive care unit (ICU) of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 1.30 pm yesterday.
While Shakib, 45, with 32 per cent burn injuries and Md Shahid, 30, with 85 per cent burn injuries are now undergoing treatment at the burn unit, Partha Sankar Paul, residential surgeon of the burn unit told BSS.
The incident occurred around 3.30 am as two of their ex-colleagues set fire to their rented room of a mess located on the first floor of a two-storey building at Narinda More following previous enmity, Zihad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station told BSS.
Locals rescued the victims after breaking open the door, he also said.
A case was lodged to this end.
