Satkhira: A mobile court yesterday sentenced a man to three months’ imprisonment and fined two others for hunting birds in Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
The three convicts were identified as Kawsar Morol,55, Salam Gazi,32, and Faisal Hossain,18, residents of Mithabari village in Patkelghata upazila. The court sentenced Kawsar to three months imprisonment and fined Salam and Faisal Tk 2,000.
Earlier, tipped off, a team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive in Binerpota area of Sadar upazila and arrested the trio while they were illegally hunting birds there on Tuesday night.
The law enforcers also recovered an air gun and seven herons from their possession.
Later, the arrestees were produced before the court led by executive magistrate Shah Abdul Sadi yesterday morning and the court handed down the verdicts.
