War crimes suspect held in Mymensingh

Police yesterday arrested a war crimes suspect from Mymensingh, hours after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued arrest warrant against him for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity committed in the district during the Liberation War in 1971.
The arrestee is identified as ASM Rezaul Haque alias Akkas Moulavi, 70, member of Jatiya Party of Muktagachha upazila unit and superintendent of Chechua Dakhil Madrasah in Muktagachha upazila.  
A team of police arrested Rezaul Haque, who allegedly joined hands with Al-Badr during the Liberation War in 1971, from his residence at Purba Chechua in the upazila around 12.30 pm, said Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Mukta­gachha police station.
