Sangakkara returns to top
A day after Tamim Iqbal displaced him from the top of the batting chart, Kumar Sangakkara took the records of his own in emphatic fashion. He crossed the 300 runs mark in this edition of BPL on the way to his 35 ball-48 runs against Sylhet Super Stars yesterday. His knock was instrumental in steering side to a respectable total. He however had 339 runs to his name and probably would end the tournament as highest run-getter.
Dhaka continue experiment with openers
It perhaps a tactical move but Dynamites’ experiment with its opening seems to be relentless. This time in the match against Sylhet Super Stars, they presented a new opening pair in Farhad Reza and Yasir Shah. Both of them are not quite a genuine batsman. They however gave the side an opening stand of 27 in five overs before Shah was dismissed. Reza went to make 31 off 28 with four fours and a six.
Rubel’s revenge
Nasir Hossain’s battle with Super Stars fast bowler Rubel Hossain was intriguing with no one could establish their absolute dominance. On 18th over, Nasir struck Rubel a mid-wicket four and long-on six to enrage bowler. Rubel looked furious after tasting the six but he got the revenge in his immediate next delivery, a full-toss that Nasir could hit as powerfully as he wanted.
Miserly Mustafizur
As the time goes on, Mustafizur Rahman becomes sharper and sharper. While the batsman played other bowlers comfortably, Mustafizur remained a mystery for them, be it local batsman or foreign batsman. Scoring a boundary in his any over seems unbelievable. He is the only bowler in the tournament who didn’t concede any boundary for three matches. The last instance was the match against Super Stars where he gave away just 14 in four over without conceding any boundaries.
