Nasir tries to stretch his innings longer

Sports Reporter

Nasir Hossain, icon of Dhaka Dynamites, said that he is trying his best to extend his individual innings from the scores of 30 to big one. “I’ve scored 30-run in some matches but I could not stretch these innings. Actually I think much if I went back so early then we’ve no more batsmen to back us. For this, I play slowly and try to extend the innings but out for three-four over before the end. But I believe I’ll do it,” said Nasir Hossain, who hit 33 against Super Stars, 32 against Victorians, 30 against Riders and 31 against Super Stars.
“In Twenty20, everything banks on scores. I try for scoring runs. I’m not big hitter that I’ll start hitting just after getting down in the field. I need some times to settle in the wickets. But I’m trying to score runs,” Nasir, who made 31 against Super Stars yesterday, told media at post-match briefing. He said that when he missed to score after playing two or three balls in the match he became panic to make hit.
“I sometimes became panic in batting when I could not score after being played two or three balls. And so, I was trying to scoop that was my strength. But Sangakkara told me he is on the other end. If you feel any problem then you give me the strike taking a single,” he said. The all-rounder said that they are experimenting on their opening stand as they are yet to set their opening pair.
After the first match, Nasir Jamshed-Shamshur Rahman, Sadman-Shamshur, Shykat-Sadman, Shykat-Sangakkara, Yasir-Shykat and Yasir-Forhad pairs have been seen throughout the past nine matches of the Twenty20 tournament for Dynamites. “We’re yet to set our opening batsmen. A batsman has done well in one match but the next two matches he failed to perform. We’re still experimenting our opening pair, who will be the best for it. And so, we’re trying with new players,” said Nasir Hossain yesterday. He said that they wanted to make a good start but they could not defend it by bowling.
“We’ve understood that we will not win the match so easily as there was better wicket today. So, we had target to make a good starting. But we could start that’s not good or bad. We bowled badly in between 8-14 overs when the run-rate has been increased. Overall was okay,” he reckoned. About today’s match, the 24-year-old said, “I only know that we’ve a match against Barisal Bulls. We also know that if we could win against Barisal we will qualify. I don’t think who are losing or winning. Our target is to play against Barisal only.”
