Animal Husbandry Assoc biennial confce today
MYMENSINGH: The 9th biennial conference and international seminar of Bangladesh Animal Husbandry Association (BAHA) will be held today at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh Complex in the capital.
Md Josimuddin Khan, president of BAHA,will chair the two-day conference while Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammad Sayedul Haque will attend the inaugural session as the chief guest.
President of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh AFM Bahauddin Nasim MP, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Vice-Chancellor Md Ali Akbar and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative in Bangladesh Mike Robson will attend the programme as the special guests.
Convener of the conference organising committee Md Nozmul Hassan told these at a press conference held at BAU yesterday.
The theme of the seminar is ‘Safe Milk for Healthy Nation.’ The seminar includes two technical sessions, recommendation session, open discussion and election of the new committee. State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda will present as the chief guest in the recommendation session.
In the seminar, Md Nurul Islam, professor of dairy Science department of BAU, will read out the keynote paper.
Representatives from UK, Australia, India and different private companies and animal husbandry graduates will take part in the two-day seminar and international workshop.
8 public varsities, TEEAL sign agreement
An agreement was signed between the Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL), a non-profitable project of Cornell University and eight universities of Bangladesh at University Grants Commission (UGC) auditorium on Tuesday
UGC Chairman Abdul Mannan was the chief guest, a press release said.
The universities which signed the agreement are Rajshahi University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Khulna University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Sylhet Agricultural University.
Under the agreement, TEEAL will supply E-resources of 325 reference journals and 4,29,000 full text articles to the Agriculture and Fisheries related disciplines of the universities. UGC Members Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dil Afroza Begum, UGC Secretary Md Khaled and Vice-Chancellors and Librarians of eight universities were present on the occasion.
Memorial lecture on MAG Osmani at DU
Dhaka University (DU) held a memorial lecture on General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, commander-in-chief of the Mukti Bahini, during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War at Sirajul Islam Lecture Hall of the university yesterday.
Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique joined the function as the chief guest while Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) Executive Director Advocate Sultana Kamal delivered a lecture titled ‘history in mirror of current context and reflection of heritage: civic ideology’.
DU History Department and General MAG Osmani Scholarship Fund organised the function with chairperson of the department Professor Sonia Nishat Ameen in the chair.
Professor Arefin Siddique, in his speech, recalled the outstanding contribution of MAG Osmani in the War of Liberation in 1971.
Students stage drama at Barisal University
BARISAL: Students of Barisal University staged drama ‘Bahe Punarrbar’ on the campus on Tuesday night marking the 'Barisal Free Day' on December 8.
Vice-Chancellor of the university SM Emamul Haque attended the programme as the chief guest.
BU VC urged the students to know the real history of the Liberation War. He said BU authorities always appreciated the motivational programme.
Sri Lankan team visits Gono Bishwabidyalay
A 14-member Sri Lankan team, led by its National Youth Service Council Officer Indrani and Gamini, visited Gono Bishwabidyalay at Savar yesterday, says a press release.
The team visited several classrooms and talked with the teachers about the learning system.
Later they called on Gono Bishwabidyalay Vice-Chancellor Mesbahuddin Ahmed. They discussed on education system of both countries.
Mir Murtoza Ali, controller of examinations, AM Mukammel, and acting registrar were present among others.
