Police detain 82 in Ctg

Chittagong: Chittagong district and metropolitan police in overnight drives arrested 82 people and seized 1805 yaba tablets and 50gm hemp from different areas of the district on Tuesday night. Kazi Abdul Awal, additional superintendent of police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district police, said police conducted special drives from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning and arrested 80 people from different upazilas of the district.
Among the arrestees, 58 people are warranted accused in different cases and 22 others are accused in regular cases.
Meanwhile, Chittagong metropolitan police in a drive arrested two people,  including one woman,  and seized 605 yaba tablets from Shah Amanat bridge area under Bakalia police station of Chittagong.
They were identified as Mahmuda Begum, wife of Raju Islam and Md Ishak, hailing from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
