Muktijudder Bijoy Mela begins today in port city

CHITTAGONG: A- month long, 27th Muktijudder Bijoy Mela (MBM)-2015 will begin in the port city today, reports BSS. The fair under the auspices of "Muktijudder Bijoy Mela Parishad" (MBMP) began unofficially at outer stadium Dec 1. General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Public Administration Minister Ashraful Islam, MP, will formally inaugurate the fair today.
This was disclosed at a press conference held at MBM temporary office beside Gymnasium of M A Aziz Stadium on Tuesday noon.
Mohammad Younus Member Secretary -1 of MBMP read out a written statement at the press conference.
Former Mayor and President of Chittagong City Awami League A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury also spoke at the press conference.
Mohiuddin Chowdhury said the main objective of the fair is to motivate and inform the young generation about the spirit of the glorious Liberation War.
He said seven separate combined squads of students, workers, women, youths and children were formed this year to prepare them mentally to fight terrorism and militancy.
"A total of one lakh 50 thousand tree saplings will be distributed this year and books will also be distributed among the underprivileged children in the port city," city AL president added.
MBM Member Secretary Bodiul Alam, Co-chairman of Muktijudder Bijoy Mela Parishad, Commander of Chittagong District Muktijuddah Command Council, Shahb Uddin, Commander of Chittagong city Muktijuddah Command Council Mozaffar Ahmed, Muktijuddaha Amol Mitro, Paltu Shah among others were present at the press conference.
The organisers said discussion on different aspects of the glorious Liberation War is scheduled to be held on every day up to December 25 and eminent freedom fighters, writers, cultural organisers and journalists are likely to take part in the discussions.
