17 students, 5 teachers of DU?get Dean�s Award

A total of 17 students of various departments under the Faculty of  Science of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday received  Dean’s Award for their brilliant academic results in the honours examinations -2013.
Besides, five teachers of the same faculty were honoured with the award for their achievement in research works and book writing. The award winning students are Armin Anwar of Physics department; Khadiza Khatun, Faizunnesa Khondaker, Farhana Akond Promi and Md Rabiul Awal of the Mathematics department; Md Saiful Islam and  Md Amjad Hossain of the Chemistry department; Mirajul Islam, Nasrin Sultana, Najiba Akter, Ashis Talukder and Zergina Zakir of the Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics department; Md Tuhin Sheikh, Tahmina Akter, Silvi Pinky Chakrabarty, Shajratul Alam and Farha Ferdous Sheela of  the Applied Statistics department of ISRT.
The awarded teachers are Prof Shapla Shirin of the Mathematics department, Prof Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain of the Chemistry department, Associate Prof Dr Md Abdus Salam Akanda and Assistant Prof  Md Mahfuzur Rahman Khokan of the Statistics, Biostatistics and Informatics department and Assistant Prof Dr Md Anamul Haque of the Chemistry department.  DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the awardees as as the chief guest at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
