Mobile court of Chittagong District administration resumed its drive against errant drugstores in the city resume after two weeks yesterday.
The mobile court came under attack on November 24 while conducting a drive at pharmacies of Hazari Lane of the city. 12 drugstore owners were arrested for attacking mobile court on that day and the mobile court was stopped after the incident, yesterday the court resume its drive. “As per direction of Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong we resumed the drive against errant drugstores of Chittagong,” said Mohammad Ruhul Amin, executive magistrate of Chittagong District Administration.
The mobile court yesterday fined six drugstores to Tk 75,000 for selling, physician samples, unapproved foreign medicines and harmful food supplement and fined a fake doctor Tk100,000 conducting drive at Aturar Depo and Kunju Chhaya residential areas under Bayazed police station in Chittagong.
The court also seized huge amount of physician samples and unapproved food supplement from the drugstores.
During the drive the court fined fake physician Mohammad Islam who was prescribing people giving identity of doctor of Chittagong Medical College Hospital at Meraj Pharmacy in Aturar Depo area. The doctor was fined Tk100, 000 and taken undertaking that he would not cheat with people in future, said Ruhul Amin.
