89 officials to withdraw cases against CCC

The officials and the staff of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) who lodged cases against their own organisation promised to newly elected mayor AJM Nasir Uddin to withdrawal the cases. A total of 89 staff and officials of CCC lodged at least 23 cases against the corporation for different reasons, which were under trial in different courts of Chittagong and High Court. The staff and officials gave the promise to the mayor at a meeting with the mayor at the city’s Theater Institute yesterday (Saturday) regarding the disposal of the cases. The mayor took the statement of the all plaintiffs and respondent to the cases. He assured them he will fulfill their demand as per the law and regulations. At the meeting, mayor said, “All the staff-officials, councilors and mayors in combine is a family.” He also ordered the officials to make a plan to remove wastes at night. The citizens will dispose off their wastes in dustbin at between 8:00pm and 11:59pm. The conservancy department will carry the wastes from 1.00am to 5.00am. He said it is the demand of all citizens to remove the garbage from the city at night.
“I want to work as per citizens’ demand,” the added mayor.
