Sylhet cop held red handed while snatching

A police constable was caught red handed while trying to snatch money from a woman at Barutkhana of Jindabazar in Sylhet city in broad day light yesterday.
The accused cop, Sharif Rana, bearing the police ID No 495, was posted at the district vehicle section of Sylhet police.
According to witnesses, Tamanna Akter, a resident of the city’s Dhopadigirpar area, withdrew Tk 6.90 lakh from a private bank in the area and was heading towards Jindabazar to deposit the amount to another bank by a rickshaw. According to police, Tamanna also had Tk 2 lakh more in her possession.
Sharif along with two of his accomplices waylaid Tamanna on a motorbike on the way and tried to snatch the money. Hearing the victim screaming, local people rushed to the spot and caught Sharif red handed, said police sources. However, Sharif’s accomplices managed to flee the spot.
