Councilor candidate hurt in attack

A Awami League nominated councilor candidate and his wife were attacked and injured by criminals early yesterday at Satnoil in Chapainawabganj. Candidate Abdul Khaleque Milon, 45, and his wife Nasrin Aktar, 38, were injured in an attack at their house by a gang criminal wearing masks at around 2 am. The criminals also ransacked the belongings of the house and looted valuables. Milon’s family sources said the gang tied all the members of the house at gun point and severely beat up Milon and Nasrin. At one stage the gang hit Milon with machete on the head and neck. Later, they looted 30 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk65,000 in cash from  almiras, they added.  Milon and Nasrin were rushed to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said OC of sadar police Mazharul Islam.
