Trader robbed in Jhenidah

A gang of criminals snatched away Tk 4 lakhs from a rice trader at Chhalavora-Koyargachi in Kaliganj upazila yesterday afternoon. Trader Rafiqul Alam Liton, who hails from Kanuharpur village in Jhenidah sadar upazila, was going towards Kaliganj town riding on a motorcycle after withdrawing Tk 3.75 lakh from Islami Bank, Kaliganj branch. Rafiqul said a gang of muggers numbering seven to eight moving in a microbus intercepted his motorcycle posing them as DB men at about 1.30 pm near Chhalavora-Koyargachi. They forced Rafiqul into the microbus, snatched away the money after tying his hands and legs, and later dropped him at Haripur village in the upazila.
