A three-day long Jibanananda Fair ended in the city on Sunday night. Jatiya Kobita Parishad Barisal unit organised the literary conference and the fair. Former Vice-chancellor of Rabindravarati University of West Bengal Dr Pabitra Sarkar inaugurated the programme as the chief guest on the premises of Amritalal Dey College. A writers’ get-together was held at the Amrita Lal Collage playground. A discussion meeting, reception to the socio-cultural-literary personalities, recitation of poems, cultural functions was also held in the closing session. It was presided over by Tapankar Chakraborty, president of Jatiya Kobita Parishad Barisal unit. Boloram Podddar, director Agrani Bank, was chief guest of this session. Journalist Murad Ahmed, cultural personality Nikil Sen, Azmal Hosen, Prof Habibur Rahman, Prof Dipangkar Chakrabarty were took part of the programme. The speakers and participants of the programmes said during the later half of the twentieth century, Jibanananda Das emerged as the most popular poet of modern Bengali literature.
