Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising an evening of songs of Tin Kabi (three poets) by Indian singer Nupurchhanda Ghosh and recitation by Dr. Sahadat Hossain Nipu at IGCC’s Gulshan premises on December 10.
Nupur Chhanda Ghosh took her training on Hindustani classical music from Pandit A. Kanan, Rabindra Sangeet in Dakshini, Kolkata, and worked under the guidance of Krishna Chattopadhyay in songs of Atulprosad, Rajanikanto, Dwijendralal and Dilip Kumar Roy for over two decades. Her research work on Atulprosad Sen, ‘Ananya Atulprosad’ was published in February 2001 at Kolkata Book Fair, and her research work on Dwijendralal Roy, ‘Deshatma Dwijendralal’ was formally released in September, 2014. Both the biographies have been widely praised by the media.
She has performed in Kolkata, Dhaka, Delhi, France and USA at the invitation of renowned organisations like Biswa Banga Sammelon, USA and Kolkata, USA Puja committees, Voice of America, Art of Living and many others. She is also a regular performer of Kolkata Doordarshan, Tara Muzik, ETV, ZEE TV, Akash Bangla and many other television channels. In spring of 2008, she was invited by several organisations of Bangladesh to perform in Dhaka. In winter of 2012, she performed in Dhaka and Chittagong along with 12 students at the invitation of the committee formed for celebrating the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Dwijendralal Roy.
Dr. Sahadat Hossain Nipu is an artiste, director and researcher. He studied MA in Rabindra Bharati University through ICCR scholarship and got his Doctorate from Bardhaman University. He was trained under famous theatre personalities in India, namely, Kumar Ray, Bivash Chakrovorty, and Manoj Mitra. He also got training in Elocution from famous Indian elocutionist Pradip Ghosh in India.
He has taken out 24 audio CD’s in Bangladesh and abroad. He has also written 16 books on Bengali theatre, culture and theatre critique and has also directed dramas on stage and TV channels. He is a special grade artiste of Bangladesh Television and Betar and has given recitation performances in Akashbani and Doodrashan in India also. He is a trainer in elocution in Nazrul Institute and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and received several awards in India such as Rupashi Bangla Purashkar 2012, Swabhoomi Purashkar 2002, Atindra Sahitya Purashkar 2003. In Bangladesh, he has received Rishit Shah Cement Award 2003 etc. He is working as a Deputy Director at Bangla Academy and a life member of Bangla Academy.
