LGRD & Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said the present Awami League government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should stay in the state power for two more consecutive terms to continue the ongoing pace of development and progress of the country, reports BSS from Faridpur. The LGRD minister made the assertion while inaugurating as the chief guest a month long trade fair sponsored by Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FCCI) on the Government Rajendra College ground here. The minister said the country under PM Shaikh Hasina has made tremendous achievements in all sectors, including women empowerment, health, food security, social development, energy and infrastructural developments. And these advancements have been recognized by various world bodies including the UN. Turning to Faridpur, Mosharraf said this district was backward in every sector a couple of years back, but during the last seven years it witnessed significant progress due to special attention of the Prime Minister. He disclosed that a textile institute at an estimated cost of Taka 100 crore would be set up soon and an auditorium with 1500-seat capacity would be set up at Goalchamat at a cost of Taka 20 crore.
The minister said a particular quarter is trying to create confusion among different religious communities to destroy the century old tradition of communal harmony of this district. The inaugural function was chaired by FCCI President Md. Jahangir Mia while it was addressed, among others, by DC Sardar Sharafat Ali, Police Super Md. Jamil Hassan, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Kh. Mohtesham Hossain Babor and Rajendra College Principal Prof. Mahbubur Rahman.
