Fugitive dies in encounter

Police recovered the body of a criminal early yesterday. The body has been identified as that of Shahin, a resident of Kamlapur area of Faridpur town. Additional police superintendebt of Faridpur Md Kamruzzaman informed that two groups of criminals were preparing to fight over establishing supremacy on bypass road area of Faridpur. Hearing the news a special team of DB police and Kotwali police conducted a raid there. On reaching there police heard sound of firing. Police also fired 6 to 7 shots to disperse the criminals. Later, Shahin, who was hit by bullet and seriously injured, was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead. Later, police recovered a foreign pistol and one bullet with magazine for the area. There are 18 criminal cases against Shahin, who remained fugitive after he was sentenced 54 years of imprisonment in different cases, the police officer added.
