The Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts yesterday recommended settling 10 audit objections in the annual audit reports of the comptroller and auditor general (CAG) in fiscal 2009-10 on the accounts of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK), reports BSS. The committee made the recommendation at its 40th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir presiding, said an official release. The meeting reviewed 10 audit objections on the accounts of RAJUK involving Taka 64,15,01,728 and suggested settling those quickly as per the guidelines made by the parliamentary body. The meeting recommended not to take steps in future for allocating plots if members of the same family, including husband and wife, father and mother and sons apply for plots separately. It recommended allocation of plots to eligible applicants who were deprived as plots were given to some ineligible applicants showing undue favour. The meeting suggested forming a probe body to investigate allegation of allocating plots in Purbachal New Town Project in favour of 50 RAJUK officials and employees under the category of autonomous bodies and taking punitive actions against those who violated rules in this regard. Committee members M Abdus Shahid, Panchanan Biswas, Begum Rokeya Momin, M. Shamsul Haq Tuku, Moinuddin Khan Badal, and M Rustam Ali Farazi attended the meeting.
CAG Masud Ahmed and senior officials concerned were present at the meeting, said an official release. In another meeting, the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurance yesterday recommended evicting illegal structures on lands beside roads and highways and banning plying of illegal transports. The committee made the recommendation at its 19th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its Chairman Kazi Keramat Ali presiding, said a JS press release. Committee members Advocate Rahamat Ali, M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, AKM Shajahan Kamal and M Abdul Mazid Khan attended the meeting. The meeting held discussions on the progress of implementation of pledges made on the floor of parliament by the prime minister and the minister concerned over the projects under the ministry of road transport and bridges. The meeting was told that the allocation in Annual Development Programme (ADP) of 2015-16 for the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project is Taka 740000 lakh while the allocation for Support to Dhaka Elevated Expressway Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project is Taka 887100 lakh. The meeting was informed that a total of 119 projects in under the ministry for road transport and bridges are under implementation in the fiscal 2015-16.  The total allocation for the projects is Taka 1476664 lakh. Secretaries and other senior officials concerned were present at the meeting on the occasion.
