11,700 yaba tablets seized

Police and officials of Narcotic Control Department (NCD) in separate drives arrested 63 people and seized 11,700 pieces of contraband yaba tablets in the city yesterday. On information, NCD officials arrested four persons and seized 11,000 pieces of yaba tablets from their possession, after searching a pick-up van in Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia Police Station in the city around 8am, said Md Ali Aslam, deputy director of Chittagong NCD. The arrested were identified as Md Shahidullah, (32), Md Belal, (25), Md Nijam, (30) and Md Rasel, (25) all hailed from Cox’s Baazar district. Md Ibrahim, Inspector of Kotowali circle of police, lodged a case against the arrested under narcotic control act.
