After initially refusing to feature in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan’s experienced batsman Mohammad Hafeez has joined the Dhaka Dynamites, reports New York based The Express Tribune.
Hafeez had claimed that he turned down an offer to play for the Chittagong franchisee since the squad also included tainted left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir. However, the franchisee had denied making any offer to the batsman. Hafeez refuses to play in Amir’s team.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Dynamites manager Athar Ali Khan confirmed the news to our Sports Reporter yesterday when he was asked whether the Pakistani all-rounder is joining Dhaka team. “Yes he is on the way to Dhaka to play for us,” said Athar.
Hafeez, has vowed to make an impression with the bat in the series, he hopes to prove his detractors wrong, who have been vocal against him after his poor returns with the bat in the instant format.
“I am leaving for Dhaka tonight, I hope to do well in the league and make an impact in the tournament for my team,” he said.
Following Hafeez’s comments against Amir, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked the top-order batsman to keep mum on the issue with the disgraced bowler as he is likely to return to Pakistan’s international side soon.
On November 27, the PCB had issued a show cause notice to senior batsman for his comments against left-arm pacer Muhammad Amir.
