Sir,
This is the month of our glorious Liberation War of which we Bangladeshis are all proud of. After nine months of bloody struggle, our country emerged in the world map. But it is sad to note that, after 44 years of our victory against the marauders, our nation is still beset with various problems. Though we have achieved significant progress economically, as a state we have conspicuously failed to have our goals well defined.
If one political party (or parties) advocates and supports a particular ideology on which the state should be based on and guided, the other believes what is contrary to it. That is why we have witnessed one amendment after another to our constitution in the past years. This has seriously bled the country and stalled its progress.
Since the state goals are not well defined and are not chosen through a broad political consensus, political parties do not support these goals whole-heartedly. This state of affairs has been breeding unchangingly a vicious ‘conflict’ of sort. This does not bode well for our nation which belongs to us all.
Difference between political parties is normal to expect, but as far as goals of the state are concerned, all political parties should uphold them in a unified manner. We the common people expect that in this month of victory, political parties would be united with the spirit of our liberation war and define goals of the state collectively.
