An Awami League rebel candidate in Gopalpur, Enamul Haque, died of cardiac arrest after his nomination for the upcoming municipality polls was cancelled, reports UNB from Tangail.
District AL general secretary Joyaherul Islam Jayaher said upazila election officer Shamsul Huda declared the nomination paper of Enamul Haque, 40, invalid on Sunday afternoon after scrutiny.
Enamul, joint secretary of upazila Jubo League, fell sick after hearing the news.
He was taken to the upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead around 5pm.
Earlier, another Awami League-nominated mayor aspirant of Arani municipality in Rajshahi, Babul Hossain, 46, died after having ‘excessive liquor’ Friday morning.
