2 children drown

Two children drowned in a pond at Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur on Friday evening. The deceased are Jannati Ferdaus, 4, daughter of Nizam Akan and Helal, 5, son of Dulal Mollik of Kumirmara village in the upazila. They are cousins. Family sources said the two children fell into a pond at the house of Dulal Mollik while they were playing on the bank of the pond in the evening. The two were found floating in the pond after they remained missing for half
an hour. They were taken to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex. But the duty doctor there declared them dead.
