Police official commits suicide

A police officer committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol early yesterday. Police claimed that the official committed suicide on the rooftop of the Monirampur police station over family feud. The deceased was Khan Ali Akbar, 55, a sub-inspector at Monirampur police station. He hailed from Nowkhiola village in Lohagara upazila of Narail district. Mollah Khabir Ahmed, officer in-charge of Monirampur police station, said the police official killed himself by shooting on his head from his own pistol at around 4:15am. The incident took place over family feud, he added. It incident happened while he was on duty, said the OC. Mir Safin Mahmud, assistant superintendent of police, Jessore, however, said the reason behind the suicide was not known immediately.“We are investigating the matter”, he added.
