Proper leather processing stressed

Hides of slaughtered animals should be properly processed to create demand in the international market, said speakers at a workshop yesterday. Raw hide is an important resource of Bangladesh and its quality should be maintained at an international standard. Otherwise, fair prices cannot be obtained in the competitive international market, speakers added.Bangladesh Tanners Association and Leather Sector Business Promotion Council (LSBPC) of the Ministry of Commerce jointly arranged the workshop on ‘Less-cut Control and Proper Collection of Hides, Preservation and Transport for Controlling Quality of Raw Hides’ at the board room of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
