The formal activities of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup will start through a launching programme to be held at Le Meridien hotel in the capital on Monday.
Geoff Allardice, ICC General Manager, Cricket and Nazmul Hassan, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be present at the function.
Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara alongside Bangladesh duo Mustafizur Rahman (ICC U19 CWC 2014) and Taskin Ahmed (ICC U19 CWC 2012) will also be present during the launching ceremony .
The match schedule and fixture of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 will formally announce at that programme. The mega event for the youth will be held in Bangladesh from January 27 to February 14, 2016. A total of 16 ICC U-19 teams, including 10 full ICC member U19 teams and six associate U19 teams, will participate in the showcase event.
The 11th Youth World Cup will be played in round-robin & knock-out format 50 overs One Day International (ODI) matches, where 16 teams will be divided in four groups. A total of 38 youth ODI matches will be played around 8 venues in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh have been drawn in the Group-A with South Africa, Scotland and Namibia. Group-B has been formed by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Canada. England, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Fiji have been clubbed in the Group-C, while Group-D has been comprised of India, Australia, New Zealand and Nepal.
