Kantaji Temple blasts injure 15

At least 15 people were injured as three crude bombs were exploded under a jatra canopy at Kantaji Temple in Kaharole upazila of Dinajpur early yesterday. Police have arrested six for their suspected link to the blasts. According to police and witnesses, a series of blasts took place around 1am when people were watching the jatra (a form of theatrical play) arranged on the temple premises on the occasion of yealy Rash Mela (fair), a Hindu religious festivity. Six of the injured were rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. They were identified as Mokaddes Hossain (23), Sadhon Chandra Roy (35), Abdul Jabbar (28), Saidur  Rahman (27), Umakanto (22), and Mithu (30). Syed Nader Hossain, a physician of surgery department at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, said the bombs might have been planted on the ground as most of the injured persons suffered splinter injuries in the lower part of their bodies. All of them are now out of danger, added Hossian. Abdul Mazid, officer-in-charge of Kaharole Police Station, confirmed that three explosions took place on the premises of Kantaji Rash Mela around 1am. Additional members of police and Rapid Action Battalion were deployed on the site since yesterday morning after the fair was closed after the explosions. Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Ruhul Amin said police are conducting a drive to arrest the culprits. The police have already arrested six suspects and were interrogating them, he added. A case was filed in connection.
