Full-fledged AL Rajshahi city committee okayed

After one year of the party’s council, the full-fledged   executive committee of the Rajshahi city unit Awami League has been approved. The members of the new committee were introduced at a meeting at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium on Saturday. With AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, president of the AL Rajshahi city unit in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by ProfAbdul Khalek, adviser to the central committee of AL, Language Movement hero Abul Hossain, Dablu Sarker, general secretary of the AL city unit, Mostaq Hossain, joint secretary, Azizul Islam Bentu, organising secretary, freedom fighter Meer Iqbal and  social worker Shahin Akter Reny.
Earlier in the morning, they brought out a procession and offered floral tribute to martyred national leader AHM Kamruzzaman. At the meeting, 71 members of the newly approved committee were announced. The executive body with nine vice presidents includes two women leaders-- Shahin Akter Reny and Nighad Parvin--. Others members are freedom fighter Meer Iqbal, Nawsher Ali, Mohammad Ali Kamal, Alhaj Rafique Uddin Ahmed, Syed Sahadat Hossain, Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha and Alhaj Mahfuzul Alam Loton.
Mustak Hossain and Rezaul Islam Babul have been made joint secretaries while Azizul Islam Bentu, Asaduzzaman Asad and Advocate Aslam Sarker organising secretaries. AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Dablu Sarker were elected president and general secretary of the committee respectively in the council held on October 25 last year. Later a list of the names of 71 leaders and activists were sent to be included in the full-fledged executive committee. Based on the list, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League, approved the full committee on November 26.
