KHULNA: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon here yesterday said NGOs can play vital role for building awareness against terrorism, militancy and communalism, reports BSS. He also said the NGOs should fight for protecting environment side by side with financial development of people. The minister was addressing as chief guest at the silver jubilee ceremony of Nabolok, an NGO, at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city. The minister said, the one-third of the country would be damaged and around three crore people would become refugees if present global warming continues due to climate change. Local NGO's must perform their duties to aware people of the impact of climate change and should organise them to face the problems, he said.
NGOs should not implement any political agenda, they should work with one another as associates, he said and adding that NGOs should also play vital role for showing the way about how the country's poor will march forward.
Presided over by the chairperson of Nabolok advocate Abdullah Hossain Bacchu, the function was also addressed as special guest by Acting Mayor Anichur Rahman Biswas, central member of Bangladesh Workers Party (WP) Hafizur Rahman Bhuiyan and Khulna Press Club President Mokbul Hossain Mintu. Chief executive of Nabolok Kazi Waheduzzaman delivered the welcome speech. Later, the minister attended the district conference of National Farmers Association as the chief guest held at Zamira School and College ground. Earlier, the minister exchanged views with leaders of Khulna Aleem Jute Mills Workers Union.
