�Media need not be neutral over war crimes trial�

Discussants at a roundtable in the capital yesterday said there is no need for ‘neutral stance’ by the media when it comes to war crimes trial, reports UNB. There is no exemption for the people who killed our forefathers, they said at the roundtable titled ‘War Crimes Trial and Media Responsibility’, organised by Media Research and Development Centre at the Jatiya Press Club, according to a press release. The speakers also mentioned that media has played a massive role in war crimes trial. Attending the programme as the chief guest, Prime Minister’s media adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said war crimes trial is going as per the Prime Minister’s election promise. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown courage in continuing the trial amind local and international pressure, he said. Speaking at the programme, senior journalist Abed Khan said the media should focus on the trial of 195 war criminals staying in Pakistan.
