World leaders here in Paris Climate Conference on Friday agreed to stop the Earth from warming more than 2 degrees, reneging on their previous stance of keeping it within 1.5 degrees, reports UNB. The leaders came up with the announcement in the 5th day of the two-week high-level talks, aiming to reduce manmade emissions in order to protect the world from destruction. However, the developed countries will have to make promise to reduce carbon emission in a large scale to keep the global temperature rise below two degree, said environment experts. Experts also added that global temperature rise will cross three degree Celsius if the rich and developing countries follow their present promise to cope with climate change. On the other hand, countries, including Bangladesh, which are most vulnerable to climate change, said they will not consider anything except the legal agreement to fight climate
change. They made the demand at a press conference in Paris in response to the draft agreement over climate change. They also said it is difficult to achieve the goal of keeping the rise of temperature within 1.5 degree Celsius but not impossible. Several Bangladeshi organisations like BAPA, BPNET, BCCJF, CCDB, CDP, CGC, CSRL, CPRD, EquityBD, NCCB and PRDI took part in the press conference.
