German factory orders rebound in October

AFP

AFP, FRANKFURT: German industrial orders, a key measure of demand for goods in Europe's top economy, rose in October, driven by robust demand from the euro area, the economy ministry said on Friday. Provisional official data showed an increase in orders of 1.8 per cent month-on-month in October, following declines of 0.7 per cent in September and 2.1 per cent in August. Analysts polled by financial services firm FactSet had pencilled in an increase of 1.0 per cent for October. The rise was attributable to stronger demand both at home and abroad for German-made goods. Export orders rose by 1.8 percent and domestic orders were up by 1.7 per cent, the ministry calculated.
