DU female student �sexually harassed�on bus
A female student of Dhaka University was sexually harassed by a drivers assistant of a bus on way to the capital from Manikganj yesterday. Police later arrested accused Mamun following the filing of a case with the Darus Salam Police Station in the capital. Mamun is a helper of a Sukhtara Paribahan bus. Sub Inspector Khadijatuz Shaila, duty officer of Darus Salam Police Station, acknowledged the incident and said the victim herself filed a case in this connection. Quoting the victim, the police official said the student frequently visits her village home in Manikganj. The girl was returning to the campus on a bus of Sukhtara Paribahan yesterday noon. As there were few passengers, she was seated alone. When the bus was crossing Singair, the helper sat beside her and sexually harassed her, he added. As the girl protested, the bus staff threatened to get her off the bus. However, his attempt was foiled as other passengers protested. After reaching the capital, the student got off the bus and lodged a complaint with the police, he added.
