Minor girl killed in Ctg fire

CHITTAGONG: A minor girl was burnt to death as a fire broke out in a house at Sonaichari Shitolpur in Sitakund upazila of the district on Thursday night, reports UNB The deceased was Sanjida Begum, 8, daughter of Badsha Miah, a resident of the area. Mohammad Harun Pasha, senior officer of Kumira fire station, said the fire might have originated from a mosquito coil and engulfed the house around 11:30 am when Badsha and his wife when out of the house keeping their only daughter inside it under lock and key. On information, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after one and half an hour of frantic efforts. They recovered the charred body of Sanjida from the house. A stationary shop and a tea stall were also gutted in the fire, added the official.
