Different parts of the country, including some areas in Dhaka city, yesterday experienced light rains after a low pressure developed in the south-western part of the Bay of Bengal, said sources in the Meteorological Department.
The highest rainfall of 10mm was recorded at Patuakhali. The rains in the afternoon caught people, especially homebound commuters, off guard in Jatrabari, Basabo, Khilgaon, Sadarghat and Paltan areas.
Even though Chittagong received 2mm of rainfall, the BPL cricket Derby in the port city was affected.
Rajshahi—in the far northwest of the country—had a 1mm drizzle. Mongla to the southwest had 2mm of rainfall, with traces in Jessore and Barisal.
It may cool the nights further, the sources said, and predicted that the rains could slow down in the next couple of days.
