Fertiliser supply adequate in Chuadanga

Agriculture officials and farmers said fertiliser supply in four upazilas of  Chuadanga district is sufficient for cultivation of Robi crops this winter. With the start of Robi season the farmers of the district are getting different types of fertiliser to meet their demands. Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) are supplying the fertilisers through dealers. About 43 dealers have been appointed by the deputy commissioner for buying fertilizers from BCIC and for selling to the farmers at fair price. So, farmers are buying per bag of urea at Tk 800, TSP at Tk 1100, MOP at Tk 750 and DAP at Tk1250 from the dealers. According to the DAE, about 18,111 tonnes of urea, 4617 tonnes of TSP, 4352 tonnes of DAP and 4542 tonnes of MOP fertilisers have been sanctioned  to the dealers from July to November, 2015 for selling to farmers.
The  sources said all kinds of fertilisers are available in sadar, Jibannagar, Damurhuda and Alamdanga upazilas of the district. There has not been any crisis of fertilisers in the district, they said. A large quantity of different kinds of fertilisers are kept in open by dealers at Dingadah bazaar for selling to the farmers.
Shahabuddin Mollik, a farmer at village Srikol-Boalia in sadar upazila, said farmers are using fertilisers for cultivating crops like wheat, maize and winter vegetables at present. On the other hand, preparation of Boro paddy seed beds is going. Abdur Rahman Biswas, a farmer of village Khadimpur in Alamdanga upazila of the district, said they are getting all kinds of fertilisers at fair prices. Nirmol Kumar Dey, DAE Deputy Director in Chuadanga, said distribution of fertilisers among the dealers is going on properly.
