Illegal brick kiln sealed off in Barisal

A mobile court in a drive sealed off an illegally set up brick kiln and fined its owner Tk 2 lakh on Wednesday. The mobile court, jointly operated by Directorate of Environment (DoE) and district administration of Barisal, led by Kalyan Chowdhury, executive magistrate, accompanied by Sukumar Biswas, divisional director of DoE Barisal divisional office, members of law enforcement agencies. Sukumar Biswas, director DoE Barisal office, acknowledging the facts said the court fined the owner of Shaon Bricks Tk 2 lakh and sealed off the brick kiln at ward no-24 under Barisal City Corporation and destroyed 18 lakh bricks and 60 mound wood logs. The mobile court was operated according to the Brick Kiln Amendment Rule 2001 and Environment Conservation Act 1995 (amended in 2010), he added .
