Comilla University entry tests today
The admission tests for the first year honours courses under 'Ka' and ‘Kha’ units of Comilla University (COU) for the academic session 2015-16 will be held today. The 'Ka' unit test will begin at 10 am and ‘Kha’ unit test at 3pm.
Some 44,447 candidates will sit for the admission test against 1010 seats, official sources said. On an average, over 44 students will vie for each seat this year. Detailed seat plan for the admission test is available on the university website-www.cou.ac.bd..

Youth held with yaba

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-8 in a drive arrested a drug trader with 1,000 yaba tablets from Kaunia Housing area in Barisal city on Wednesday night. The arrestee was Sazzad Ahmed Sajib, 28. RAB sources said on a tip-off, a team of elite force raided the area and arrested him with the tablets at 10 pm.

5 confectioneries fined

The regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institutions (BSTI) in a drive fined owners of five confectioneries Tk 67,000 in Rajshahi yesterday on charges of manufacturing, possessing and selling of substandard and adulterated foods and date expired items together with violation of BSTI rules and regulations. According to the officials concerned, the BSTI in cooperation with the district administration conducted mobile court in different areas of the city. The court, led by Executive Magistrate Parveen Sultana lodged separate cases against the owners of Shukur and Sons, Apurba Foods, Khadya Bhandar, AB Confectionery and Rabiul Variety at BSCIC Industrial Estate.
 The court realised Tk 67,000 from the shop owners as fined money and disposed of the case on the spot.
