Man found dead in Rajshahi
After two days of his missing, police found the body of jeweler, Sadhan Kumar Karmakar, from near Arani Railway Station under Bagha Upazila of the district early yesterday, police and locals said. The deceased, aged 45 and son of Chandra Lal Karmaker, hailed from nearby Panka village under Bagatipara Upazila of Natore district. Being informed by the locals, police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College for post mortem. Quoting the family sources Ali Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge of Bagha Police Station, said Sadhan Kumar had been missing since Saturday evening. During preliminary investigation, it was found that his body bore several marks of wounds. “We are investigating into the matter to unearth the reason behind the death,” he added. A case of unnatural death was recorded with the police station in this connection.
82 held in special drives in Ctg
Chittagong district police in overnight special drives arrested 82 people with gold bars, contraband yaba tablets, wine and ganja from different upazilas of the district on Saturday night, reports BSS.
Abdul Awal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said the arrestees include 16 accused in regular cases.
Police recovered 10 litres of country-made liquors from Raozan upazila, 19 litres from Mirsarai upazila, 36 litres from Hathazari upazila, 19 litres from Boalkhali upazila, 10 litres from Jorarganj upazila. Police also recovered four gold bars from Jorargonj upazila and 28 grams of ganja from Satkania and Patiya upazilas during the drives.
Body of teenage boy recovered
Police yesterday recovered a burnt body of teenage boy from Mogpukur area under Double Mooring police station in Chittagong after days of a fire incident.
On Friday some shops were gutted while a fire broke out since then the boy was missing who was working in one the shop.
The boy was identified as Saiful, 15, son Md Selim, hailed from Nangalkot Upazil of Comilla district.
“His body was found during cleaning rubbish of the area at around 10am. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy,” said ASM Nurul Alam Talukder, officer-in-charge of Double Mooring police station.
