Public lecture held at NSU
The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences of North South University (NSU) organised a public lecture titled Frontiers of Science and Pathways for Discoveries in the 21st Century at NSU auditorium on Thursday, says a press release.
Dr Zahid Hasan, a professor of Physics at Princeton University, USA and also a member of the International Advisory Board of NSU, was the keynote speaker. Gour Gobinda Goswami, vice-chancellor (in charge), NSU, chaired the session while MA Kashem, chairman, BOT, NSU was the chief guest. The lecture was aim to make students understand some basic inventions of science and his current research areas that could revolutionize the field of electronics in the near future.
A number of students, who had registered prior through online, attended the lecture. There was a very live interactive session between the speaker and students. A colorful performance was held by the NSU students at the beginning of the public lecture. At the end of the lecture session Dr Zahid Hasan at attended a meeting with the university authority regarding the international affairs and academic curricula as a member of NSU International Advisory Board. He also congratulated to the recent achievement of accreditation to the university authority.
Career orientation talk show held
The Faculty of Business Administration of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a career orientation talk show for the benefit of its MBA students at AIUB auditorium recently, says a press release.
The resource persons for the programme were --Aftab Mahmud Khurshed, Group Chief Marketing Officer Business Development Head, Super Star Group (SSG) Ltd and Reaz Ameen Choudhury, head Supply Chain Management, Novartis (Bangladesh) Ltd.
The main objective of the talk show was highlighting the prospect and potential of the major courses like Marketing, HRM, Finance, Accounting, MIS, and Operations Management which are offered in the MBA and EMBA Programme.
This programme was followed by a lively question answer session, where the students asked a wide range of questions. The Talk Show was moderated by Nisar Ahmed, director, MBA Programme. Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration Charles C. Villanueva, Nisar Ahmed, director MBA/EMBA programme, were also present.
Natl debate festival held at Green University
Green University Debating Club has organised 2nd National Public Speaking Competition associated with WaterAid Bangladesh, says a press release.
The two-day programme began on November 26. A total of 16 colleges and 32 universities (both public and private) across the country have participated in this grand celebration of debate.
Dhaka University Debating Club became champion and Daffodil International University (DIU) became runner-up in the inter-university debate competition.
On the other hand, Notre Dame College Debate Club-Gold became champion and Notre Dame College Debate Club-Blue became runner-up in the inter-college debate competition respectively..
Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, secretary of Bangladesh Public Service Commission, was the chief guest at the closing session while Md Golam Samdani Fakir, vice-chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh presided over the session.
Farhana Helal Mehtab, associated professor and head of the Department of Law of DIU, and Md Shahid Ullah, treasurer of Green University, were the special guests. Faculty members and students of GUB, different debate teams of different educational institutions were present in the debate competition.
