KUSHTIA: The authorities of Islamic University (IU) yesterday handed over a admission seeker to police during viva voce for admission into first year honors course under ‘C’ unit for the 2015-16 academic sessions on charge of fraudulance. The examinee was Maudud Ahmed Jibon, son of Masud Parvez of Gungni in Mirpur sadar. Sources said Maudud informed the university proctorial body that he did not appear at the admission test but got 2nd merit in ‘C’ unit in exchange of Tk 1.5 lakh. He took help from a fake examinee named Ripon, who already jailed for six months in this regard. Unit coordinator Professor M Asaduzzaman said he suspected Maudud when he failed to give the correct information about his admission test merit list and number during ‘C’ unit viva voce. Later, he detained Maudud from the Faculty Applied Science and Technology of the university around 10am and handed over the examinee to the university proctorial body. University Proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman said they had cancelled his admit card for the test and handed over the admission seeker to police. Police would take necessary steps against him, he added. The viva voce for admission into the first year honours courses of the university began on Monday and will continue till December 2.
