CPA fines 11 vessels

CHITTAGONG: A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) yesterday fined 11 vessels a total of Taka 3.20 lakh for different grounds, reports BSS. CPA Executive Magistrate Mohammad Abul Hashem conducted the mobile court and fined the vessels for different reasons including for overloading, blocking the port channel, not keeping safety appliances and bay-crossing approval and not keeping certificates by the masters and drivers of the vessels. The fined vessels are: T-1050, MV Bay of Bengal, MV PMS-4, MV PMS-1, MV Ocean Store, MV Beauty of Chhotrobhog, MV NA-2, MV Nasha, MV Shabab-2, MV Elan Victory and MV Ifty Saimum. Such drives would continue in future in order to keep the port channel barrier-free and bring discipline in water transportation, said Abul Hashem.
