Army member killed in blast during exercise

An army person was killed and three others injured from a cannon blast during the military’s winter exercise at Monkhali area in Ukhia upazila of the district yesterday night, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Khalil, Corporal of Bangladesh Army. Colonel Kaiser of Ramu Cantonment said the accident took place as a cannon bombshell suddenly blew off during the winter exercise of Bangladesh Army in the area around 8pm, leaving Corporal Ibrahim Khalil dead on spot and Lance Nayek Habib, Corporal Rasel and Corporal Humayun injured. Later, the injured were taken to Sadar General Hospital. Officer-in-charge of Ukhia police station Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident.
