Altaf Mahmud and Omar Faruk have been elected the president and the general secretary respectively of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), a pro-Awami League association, reports UNB.
They were elected through a direct election of the union, which was held on Saturday at the Jatiya Press Club premises and elsewhere in the country.
Besides, Zafar Wazed was elected vice president, while Amioy Ghatak Pulak was elected Joint secretary, and Ataur Rahman was elected treasurer of BFUJ.
The other elected members of the union are Syed Ishtiak Reza, Mofida Akbar, Swapon Das Gupta and Shafiuddin Bitu.
