Bangladesh women team got off to lively start in the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 qualifier when they dumped hosts Thailand by 73 runs in the opening match at Thailand Cricket ground yesterday in Bangkok.
Bangladesh batted first to gather a fighting 105 for six in 20 overs. In return they booked the home team for a paltry 32 in 14.4 overs.
Ayasha Rahman and Sharmin Akhtar gave a start as the openers duo added 38 runs in the opening stand. Ayasha struck the highest 30 off 32 with the help of a couple of boundaries. Sharmin made 12. Fargana with an unbeaten 23 and Shaila Sharmin with 17 were the other two Bangladesh batsmen two reach double fi9gures.
N Boochathan and S Lalmi took two each for Thailand.
Apart from C Suthirung (13), no other Thai batsmen could reach double digit.
